We are used to enjoying its beneficial properties through citrus juices, but what we need to know is that Vitamin C is also a powerful ally for our skin! Here is what we will find in this article:
Ascorbic Acid, better known as Vitamin C, is a true powerhouse of well-being, with multiple properties. However, it is a very unstable molecule, which is why our purea ctive ingredient has been stabilized with the help of Vitamin E. This way, in addition to achieving stability, we can benefit from the synergistic action of the two vitamins and an enhanced effect. Vitamin C is also photosensitive, meaning it oxidizes and loses its effectiveness when exposed to sunlight. This is why we have renewed all the bottles of our precious pure actives which are now equipped with a special protective anti-UV filter.
But be careful! It is not photosensitizing, so it can be used safely during the day and easily incorporated into our morning skincare routine, as well as, of course, into our evening routine.
What are its properties?
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant capable of neutralizing the action of free radicals and counteracting the signs of aging by stimulating the production of collagen. It gives extreme luminosity to the skin, making it fresh and radiant. This prodigious active ingredient also has a uniforming effect: lightens blemishes and firms the texture. For all these reasons, it is widely used in the queen of the beauty routines, the Korean Skincare, and it definetly deserves a place in yours too!
Vitamin C boasts powerful antioxidant properties, meaning it can counteract the damage of free radicals and help slow down skin aging. But what exactly are free radicals and how are they formed?
A free radical is a very unstable molecule because it is missing an electron in its outer orbital. To compensate for this instability, it tries to steal an electron from nearby molecules, triggering a chain reaction that causes increasing cellular damage. An antioxidant molecule, however, can step in by donating the missing electron and stopping the process.
Free radicals are created naturally in our body but there are factors that can accelerate and worsen the situation:
The combination of Vitamin C and E, as in our pure active, exponentially enhances the antioxidant power of both. Each Vitamin E molecule is capable of interrupting just one oxidation cycle, but thanks to the contribution of Vitamin C, it can be regenerated and continue fighting free radicals!
Smooth, radiant skin, will help you start every new day at your best!
Our Face Serum is called Stable Vitamin C because we wanted to highlight that it is a formula designed to remain stable over time. There are many Vitamin C products on the market, but their PAO is shorter than 6 months. PAO stands for Period After Opening and it indicates the number of months during which a cosmetic product can be safely used after first opening, mantaining its propertis unchanged and generally for cosmetics it is 6 months.
Our Serum's efficacy is clinically tested: it targets dark spots and boosts skin radiance
*Clinical tests conducted on a panel of 20 subjects showed significant improvements in the monitored parameters, specifically:
Vitamin C is excellent for brightening skin blemishes, such as sun spots. This Pure Active is able to inhibit the overproduction of melanin that causes these unwanted spots. It helps fade hyperpigmentation and reduces the risk of new spots appearing, leaving the skin radiant and even-toned! It's ideal for making both lighter and darker spots less noticeable, as shown in the image below, which illustrates the effects of Vitami C after 4, 8 and 12 weeks.
Vitamin C is a key molecule for collagen synthesis, a protein essential not only for the health of our skin but also for all connective tissues in the body. This active ingredient stimulates new collagen production and helps maintain its activity, resulting in the reduction of visible signs of aging. In short, it provides a 360° anti-aging effect, acting on chronological aging caused by time as well as photo-aging caused by UV exposure, thanks to its antioxidant properties mentioned earlier.
Vitamin C is perfect for keeping the skin radiant all year round and can come to the rescue during challenging periods, such as seasonal changes, when you complexion may feel dull and tired, or before the summer months, to prepare the skin for sun exposure.
Our Vitamin C pure active ingredient can be applied pure on the skin as a serum, after toner and before moisturizer, or as a booster to enhance out favourite cream brightening effect. In Korean beauty routines, Vitamin C is widely used as a serum and is considered one of the key secrets to achieving the highly coveted porcelain-like skin!
Here's a fun fact about Vitamin C! It's scientific name, ascorbic acid, comes from an ancient disease called scurvy. This illness were caused by a severe deficiency of Vitamin C, and in the past it affected countless sailors during their long sea voyages, when getting proper nutrition was nearly impossible. Scurvy had serious consequences, and one of them was that sailors often became irritable and bad-tempered for no obvious reason.
