What to do if you have frizzy hair? The perfect beauty routine for your hair

All hair types have one enemy in common: frizz! But what is it about? how can you deal with it? In this article we reveal what to do if you have frizzy hair and the secrets to finally having it disciplined and defined.

The much hated frizz effect is a very common problem that afflicts not only those with curly hair, but also those with straight and thin hair and those who, in general, subject it to aggressive treatments.

It is dry, brittle, dull and rough to the touch, swollen and unruly hair, difficult to manage.

Let's see together what to do to improve the situation of frizzy hair and keep this unsightly effect at bay.

The causes of frizz

  • Genetic factors: like many things, even the frizz effect, given by the lifting of the hair cuticles, can simply be a consequence of genetic factors. If even some of your family members have always complained of the same annoyance... well, let yourself be consoled by the fact that at least... you are in good company!
  • Lack of hydration: the main cause of frizzy hair is a lack of hydration. In a humid environment (think of rainy days!), being dehydrated, the hair will be led to absorb the humidity present in the air by expanding the hair cuticles and causing the famous frizz effect; in a dry environment or following a jet of too hot air, the hair will be completely dried out, resulting too dry and losing definition, creating those clouds of hair that look disheveled and messy, like straw!
  • Aggressive procedures and treatments: another cause of frizzy hair are dyes, perms, bleaching and all those treatments that can damage the hair structure, as well as the use of the hair dryer and hot tools such as curling irons and straighteners that stress the hair making it dry and dull.
  • Factors related to physical and psychological health: even a bad diet, tiredness and physical or psychological stress can affect the hair, drying it out and weakening it.

What to do to fight frizzy hair?

To act effectively against the frizz effect, it is necessary to use specific products, possibly using natural and non-aggressive active ingredients.

Especially in the case of curly or wavy hair, the drying and styling phase will also be essential to keep the hair defined, voluminous and free from frizz for longer.

To get defined and natural curls you can also follow the Curly Girl Method.

The washing

First, frizzy hair should not be washed too frequently and using shampoos that also eliminate the natural oils of the hair.

Removing natural lubricants will only make them drier and more brittle, making things worse!

It would be ideal to wash your hair twice a week, also doing specific treatments and wraps, using anti-frizz masks and conditioners, which have a high moisturizing power and protect it from humidity.

Drying

Once washed and nourished, before proceeding with drying it is very important not to rub the hair in the towel, but only dab it, gently removing excess water.

Make sure you don't brush your hair too hard, especially when wet, and prefer a wide-toothed wooden comb to limit breakage as much as possible and to comb it more easily.

It would also be ideal to avoid using the hair dryer and let the hair dry in the open air, because it is often the jet of hot air that causes frizz.

Try wrapping your hair in a microfiber cloth and leave it for a couple of hours until completely dry. Your hair will be dry and defined without being stressed by heat sources.

Are you in a hurry? Try to use the hair dryer at a distance of about 10/15 cm and with an average temperature!

Take the hair test!

The styling

When we choose a product for styling frizzy hair, whether it's a mousse, a serum or a cream, we should opt for alcohol-free products, because it is true that it stays on our hair for a very short time, but once it has evaporated, it makes it even drier and frizzier.

If you are looking for a quick remedy, get yourself a braid or ponytail and leave your hair in this hairstyle for a few hours... once it is loose, your hair will have a natural and defined style!

If you want to protect your hair even while you sleep, use a silk scarf or scarf to wrap your hair during the night...it will be free from humidity and atmospheric agents, free to shine even in the early morning!

To also avoid the "electric hair" effect, opt for pillowcases in natural fabric, synthetic ones electrify them!

The beauty routine

As you may have understood, following a specific beauty routine for the needs of your hair is of fundamental importance! In addition to changing those little bad habits, it's very important to know how to choose the right products!

A complete beauty routine includes a scalp pre-treatment, a hair pre-treatment, a specific cleansing, a scalp treatment, a hair treatment and an ad hoc styling!

1. Scalp pre-treatment

Detox Scalp Scrub

If our skin is not healthy, our hair will hardly be shiny and beautiful ... for this reason it is very important to take care of our scalp even before our hair ... because a shiny hair is rooted in a healthy skin!

This scrub is perfect for deep cleansing, removing dead cells, reinvigorating the scalp and having shiny hair.

The chicory prebiotic strengthens the natural microbiota present on our skin and helps to regain balance and prevent dandruff. The natural mint and nettle extracts purify and stimulate the scalp and follicles, the aloe and witch hazel gel have a moisturizing and soothing action. Hemp and argan oil soften and strengthen hair, while Vitamin E and natural bisabolol soothe and pamper the scalp.

We recommend using this product once a month.

Wet the hair, apply this product on the scalp and massage the scalp with the fingertips, with particular pressure above the ears, on the nape of the neck and on the central line. Make the microgranules and natural extracts work, which will help you remove dead cells, toxins and... bad thoughts!
Leave it on for a few minutes, rinse and then proceed with normal washing.

In the case of frizzy, dull and dull hair, it is particularly recommended to do a final acid rinse. After washing your hair with shampoo and conditioner, you can do this step to close the spores of the hair well and give more brightness to the hair.

In fact, by washing the hair with a last acid rinse we will restore the correct ph of the hair which can be altered by the calcareous composition of running water. The acid rinse can be done with lemon juice: very little lemon in a liter of water is sufficient, or a spoonful per liter of water, but the doses can be customized based on the length of the hair and the amount of water needed for rinsing. therefore we advise you to make tests starting from a minimum quantity and then increase from time to time.

It can also be done with a hydrolate of your choice. In this case, just spray the hydrosol directly on damp hair without further rinsing with water. A particularly suitable hydrolat for dry hair can be:
