The causes of frizz
Genetic factors: like many things, even the frizz effect, given by the lifting of the hair cuticles, can simply be a consequence of genetic factors. If even some of your family members have always complained of the same annoyance... well, let yourself be consoled by the fact that at least... you are in good company!
Lack of hydration: the main cause of frizzy hair is a lack of hydration. In a humid environment (think of rainy days!), being dehydrated, the hair will be led to absorb the humidity present in the air by expanding the hair cuticles and causing the famous frizz effect; in a dry environment or following a jet of too hot air, the hair will be completely dried out, resulting too dry and losing definition, creating those clouds of hair that look disheveled and messy, like straw!
Aggressive procedures and treatments: another cause of frizzy hair are dyes, perms, bleaching and all those treatments that can damage the hair structure, as well as the use of the hair dryer and hot tools such as curling irons and straighteners that stress the hair making it dry and dull.
Factors related to physical and psychological health: even a bad diet, tiredness and physical or psychological stress can affect the hair, drying it out and weakening it.
How to best treat frizzy hair
To act effectively against the frizz effect, it is necessary to use specific products, possibly using natural and non-aggressive active ingredients.
Especially in the case of curly or wavy hair, the drying and styling phase will also be essential to keep the hair defined, voluminous and free from frizz for longer.
To get defined and natural curls you can also follow the Curly Girl Method, you can find a more in-depth look here.
Washing frizzy hair
First, frizzy hair should not be washed too frequently and using shampoos that also eliminate the natural oils of the hair.
Removing natural lubricants will only make them drier and more brittle, making things worse!
It would be ideal to wash your hair twice a week, also doing specific treatments and wraps, using anti-frizz masks and conditioners, which have a high moisturizing power and protect it from humidity.
Drying frizzy hair
Once washed and nourished, before proceeding with drying it is very important not to rub the hair in the towel, but only dab it, gently removing excess water.
Make sure you don't brush your hair too hard, especially when wet, and prefer a wide-toothed wooden comb to limit breakage as much as possible and to comb it more easily.
It would also be ideal to avoid using hair dryer and hair straighteners, because it is often the jet of hot air that causes frizz. Try to use the hair dryer at a distance of about 10/15 cm and with an average temperature!
Styling frizzy hair
When we choose a product for styling frizzy hair, whether it's a mousse, a serum or a cream, we should opt for alcohol-free products, because it is true that it stays on our hair for a very short time, but once it has evaporated, it makes it even drier and frizzier.
If you are looking for a quick remedy, get yourself a braid or ponytail and leave your hair in this hairstyle for a few hours... once it is loose, your hair will have a natural and defined style!
If you want to protect your hair even while you sleep, use a silk scarf or scarf to wrap your hair during the night...it will be free from humidity and atmospheric agents, free to shine even in the early morning!
To also avoid the "electric hair" effect, opt for pillowcases in natural fabric, synthetic ones electrify them!

Your hair is oily and gets dirty quickly
Your hair is unruly and unmanageable
Anti-Frizz Mask: ideal for dry and rebellious hair, this mask features organic aloe and hyaluronic acid. This juicy and hydrating mask revitalizes even the driest hair, leaving it fragrant with zesty citrus notes! Hyaluronic acid hydrates hair from root to tip, keeping it flexible and plumped. Organic Aloe deeply moisturizes parched hair, making it soft and detangled. These two ingredients, along with organic carrot, sunflower, and isomerate saccharide, provide an extra hydration boost that brings dry and lifeless hair back to life. The slightly acidic pH of this mask keeps the hair cuticles sealed, maintaining a disciplined, compact, and healthier appearance. The formula is enriched with Italian fruit acids (AHAs), which help combat hard water and salt damage, control frizz, eliminate dullness, and prevent loss of shine!
5. Acid rinse for frizzy hair
In the case of frizzy, dull and dull hair, it is particularly recommended to do a final acid rinse. After washing your hair with shampoo and conditioner, you can do this step to close the spores of the hair well and give more brightness to the hair. Read our article to discover more!
In fact, by washing the hair with a last acid rinse we will restore the correct ph of the hair which can be altered by the calcareous composition of running water. The acid rinse can be done with:
AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) are a specific treatment for frizzy hair. Simply spray them on damp hair before drying or even daily on dry hair. Thanks to the anti-limestone and anti-salt effects of AHA, along with a slightly acidic pH that helps seal the hair cuticles, they leave your hair soft and manageable. The formula is scented with orange blossom and enriched with nettle and plant proteins for a strengthening effect.
From a functional perspective, AHA contains natural polysaccharides that nourish the hair and antioxidant molecules that protect against oxidative damage from the sun and pollution. In combination with an acidic pH, they help not only to enhance shine and manageability while combating the pesky frizz but also to protect hair color, prolonging the duration and intensity of dyes and highlights.
AHA also plays an important role in anti-limestone and anti-salt properties, which are crucial for shiny and silky hair. Calcium and limestone deposits can fade hair color, while sea salt can lead to dehydration of the hair shaft, making it dry and brittle. Effectively removing limestone and salt is a fundamental step in maintaining healthy and beautiful hair, especially during and after summer.
Hydrolate of your choice: in this case, just spray the hydrosol directly on damp hair without further rinsing with water. A particularly suitable hydrolat for dry hair can be: the Organic Orange Blossom Hydrolate, which tones, soothes, refreshes and regenerates the epidermis, or the Organic Rose Hydrolate, known for its strong moisturizing properties.
Lemon Juice: Just a small amount of lemon juice in a liter of water (about one tablespoon per liter) is sufficient. However, the proportions can be customized based on your hair length and the amount of water needed for rinsing. It is advisable to start with a minimal amount and gradually increase it as needed.
6. Ideal styling for frizzy hair
Styling should be chosen based on your hair type:
Curl reviving cream: if you have curly or wavy hair you can use this cream which is a leave-in treatment designed to tame even the wildest hair, shape and fix curls, counteract frizz and strengthen and soften your hair, making it shiny!
A rich mix of natural ingredients gives strength, elasticity and new light to your hair: babassu nourishes and disciplines, chicory prebiotic helps to regain the natural balance, hydrosaccharides and aloe gel deeply moisturize and fenugreek (Methi ) makes the hair shiny and silky. For wonderful curls, apply it to damp hair, rubbing the strands with the palm of your hand from the bottom towards the roots. Dry naturally or with a diffuser. For a final touch, you can also apply it to dry curls.
Organic Aloe gel: a true elixir with a rebalancing, moisturizing and emollient action. Thanks to its antioxidant and detoxifying properties, Aloe acts on the hair shaft by purifying it, restructuring it and making it stronger. Ideal if you want to reduce frizz, hydrate, nourish and define curls. Apply a dollop of aloe vera gel on your hands after washing your hair, apply it to your hair by squeezing your curls between your fingers.
Plant Crystals: these vegetable liquid crystals are a true beauty elixir for nourishing, protecting, disciplining and silky hair and are particularly suitable for straight hair, even fine, because they are very light.
We created it by mixing fantastic organic coconut, flax and hemp oils with argan oil produced by a women's cooperative in Morocco to nourish the locks without weighing them down and making them shinier than ever. You can use it after shampooing on damp hair, to make it soft and manageable or on dry strands to fix the fold, tame the frizz effect and make your hair shine.
