What is a Beauty Routine?

A beauty routine refers to a series of daily steps and practices dedicated to skin care, including the use of specific products and targeted techniques to keep the skin healthy, radiant, and well-hydrated. The goal is to cleanse, nourish, and protect the skin, preventing and addressing issues such as blemishes, wrinkles, or dark spots.

The benefits of following a complete beauty routine can be summarized as follows:

  1. Improves skin health: A well-structured routine helps maintain clean, hydrated skin that is protected from external factors.

  2. Prevents skin problems: Regular use of appropriate products helps prevent the appearance of blemishes, wrinkles, and other skin conditions.

  3. Slows down aging: Using antioxidant and moisturizing products can slow the process of skin aging.

  4. Promotes a radiant appearance: Well-cared-for skin looks more luminous and smooth.

What are the steps of a complete Beauty Routine?

  1. Cleansing: Every good routine starts with proper cleansing. Removing dirt, sebum, and makeup is essential. Choose a cleanser suitable for your skin type, such as mousse, gel, or cleansing milk.

  2. Exfoliation: This step, done 1–2 times a week, removes dead skin cells and promotes cell renewal. You can use mechanical scrubs or chemical exfoliants, such as AHA Peels. In some treatments, this can be done once a day for six days, once a month.

  3. Toner: Toner restores the skin's pH balance and prepares the face for subsequent treatments. Simply choose a toner that meets your needs, spray it on your face, and either pat it in with your fingers or let it dry naturally.

  4. Serum: Face serums contain high concentrations of active ingredients and target specific concerns (anti-wrinkle, hydrating, brightening).

  5. Moisturizer: Essential to keep the skin hydrated and protected. Choose a cream based on your skin type: hydrating for oily skin, nourishing for dry skin.

  6. Sun protection: Applying SPF daily, even in winter, is essential to protect the skin from UV damage and prevent premature aging.

  7. Specific treatments: Masks, oils, or specialized treatments can be added to your weekly routine or used as needed.

Specific Beauty routine for all skin types:

A beauty routine is built around the specific characteristics of your skin, so we’ll have different routines for different skin types:

  • For dry skin: Your beauty routine should be rich in highly nourishing products, both to combat dryness and to help recreate the protective barrier the skin has lost, essential for defending against external and allergenic factors.
  • For oily skin: In this case, it’s important to intervene effectively by purifying the skin, minimizing pores, and cleansing with balancing and sebum-regulating formulas.
  • For combination skin: You’ll need products that can regulate sebum, treat blemishes and oily areas, and nourish the drier zones.
  • For normal skin:This skin type also needs proper care to ensure it stays at its best for a long time.
  • For mature skin: As we age, collagen and elastin production slows down. In addition to cleansing, it’s important to use creams and serums rich in active ingredients capable of penetrating deeply and stimulating the proteins that keep the skin youthful and elastic.
  • For young skin: In this case, the key steps in the beauty routine focus on maintaining skin that is toned, fresh, and clean.

Morning Beauty routine

Your beauty routine for any skin type starts in the morning to give your skin a proper wake-up. During the night, the skin doesn’t rest—quite the opposite. It enters its most active phase: cellular regeneration, which increases microcirculation, promoting renewal and self-repair.

Where to start?  In the morning, it’s best to wash your face with a specific product. This is essential for everyone, especially for those dealing with shine caused by excess sebum—something that tends to happen mainly overnight.

  1. Water: The first step of any morning routine is simply washing your face to eliminate the first signs of fatigue and remove excess sebum and dead skin cells. Cold water is preferable because it instantly tones the skin and visually tightens pores;
    BEAUTY TIP: Pat your face dry with a clean towel. Use a towel reserved for your face only, separate from the one for your hands.
  2. Cleanser: Deep cleansing isn’t necessary first thing in the morning. Opt for a gentle cleanser to prepare your skin for the following steps. Products with calibrated, delicate, natural, and certified organic ingredients are especially recommended;
  3. Toner: The toner rebalances the skin’s natural acidity, particularly important because tap water is often “hard” and rich in limescale. When we wash our face, limescale can remain on the skin and, over time, leave visible effects. This step is crucial because it allows active ingredients in the next products to penetrate more deeply and effectively;
  4. Serum: A serum is a concentrate of targeted ingredients. Compared to a face cream, it has a lighter texture that absorbs quickly without weighing down the skin;
  5. Face cream: Choose one based on your skin type and any personal needs;
  6. SPF: The final step of the morning routine is applying SPF. UVA and UVB rays are the main cause of premature aging and dark spots. SPF creates a protective shield on the skin when applied as the last step of the routine;

Night Beauty routine

The beauty routine suitable for all skin types ends at the end of the day, before going to bed. Unlike the morning, at this point our skin stressed and exposed to numerous external factors (UV rays, microorganisms, pollution, etc.) needs cleansing and preparation to support the biological processes that naturally take place during the night.
  1. Make up remover : One of the greatest allies for anyone who wears makeup. It removes every trace of makeup, leaving the skin purified, able to breathe, and ready to receive any treatment that follows. Once the pores are freed from the products applied in the morning and from pollutants accumulated throughout the day, they can properly absorb the active ingredients found in creams and serums. This helps prevent imperfections and discomfort that may arise over time due to an inadequate routine.;
  2. Double cleansing: To deeply cleanse the skin, you can opt for double cleansing, which involves two steps: an oil-based cleanser that works by affinity, followed by a foaming cleanser that works by contrast. This method removes traces of pollution, makeup, and dirt from the face;    For more details on double cleansing, you can check out our article.
  3. Tonico: You can use the same toner you apply in the morning;
  4. Siero: Once again, you may use the same serum from the morning or combine different ones depending on your skin’s needs;
  5. Crema viso:There are specific night creams that provide extra nourishment or support cellular turnover, helping you wake up with fresh, radiant skin. Getting a restful 8 hours of sleep is also essential for a glowing, well-rested complexion the next day!

New call-to-action

Occasional Beauty routine treatments for all skin types:

These occasional treatments are part of the beauty routine for all skin types and are recommended once or twice a week, depending on individual needs.

  • Scrub: A scrub provides deep purification through the exfoliation of the skin’s outermost layer, leaving it smoother, more even, and radiant. Its exfoliating action removes dead skin cells and stimulates the natural renewal process of the stratum corneum. It is essential to choose a scrub suitable for your skin type. For particularly sensitive or fragile skin, a very gentle scrub with low exfoliating power is recommended, as stronger formulas may cause redness, flaking, or micro-tears.
    More resilient and less sensitive skin types can instead benefit from medium- or high-intensity scrubs for a more effective result.
  • Peeling: A peeling product, typically with a watery, gel-like texture, works through chemical exfoliation, penetrating deeper into the skin and stimulating cellular regeneration. It removes the superficial layer of dead skin, revealing smoother, renewed skin with fewer spots, wrinkles, and imperfections. Although peeling is not usually painful, it may cause burning, redness, irritation, or flaking, which generally subside shortly after treatment. It is ideal for treating acne scars, fine lines, sunspots, and skin laxity.
    However, it is not recommended for individuals with infections, active skin diseases, damaged or sunburned skin, or herpes. It is also contraindicated during pregnancy and in the presence of psoriasis, eczema, or dermatitis.
  • Face masks: A face mask is a cosmetic treatment used to address specific concerns or skin imperfections affecting the face. Face masks are designed to restore the skin’s altered hydrolipidic balance and re-establish the physiological pH, protecting sensitive skin from environmental stressors. Using a face mask regularly—once or twice a week—gives the skin a brighter, firmer appearance. Face masks are highly appreciated for their intensive effect and quick action. An ideal face mask should meet the following essential requirements:
    • Deeply hydrate and soften dry dehydrated, or tired-looking skin;
    • Protect the skin from external aggressors;
    • Improve skin elasticity;
    • Purify the skin thoroughly;
    • Stimulate facial microcirculation;
    • Enhance the absorption of active functional ingredients;
    • Restore the skin’s youthful glow;

Other rules for a perfect Beauty routine

To keep your skin at its best clear, smooth, and radiant you can follow additional strategies..

  • Steam inhalations: This technique uses steam in contact with the skin to dilate the pores, allowing microorganisms and excess sebum to be eliminated. When pore buildup combines with bacteria, it can lead to blackheads and pimples;
  • Diet: A balanced diet has a positive impact on the appearance of the skin. The vitamins found in fruits and vegetables are powerful allies, helping the skin look healthy and glowing. On the other hand, foods that are difficult to digest—such as fried dishes or those high in salt—promote dehydration and water retention in the skin. This is why it is recommended to drink at least 2 liters of water a day, as it helps eliminate excess fluids and toxins.
    Finally, it’s best to avoid sweets and alcoholic beverages, which can be harmful due to their high sugar content. In this sense, food supplements such as Skin Purity and Pro Age can also be helpful.
